This Grandia is a bit of a tease

The first Grandia game had me from the get go and is still the Grandia game I consider the best. Part two is not all that far behind, as it is the Grandia that seems to get ameliorate the more I play through it. So at that place is part 3 (never played Extreme). This game starts out in spectacular manner and when I played through it the commencement time I thought it was going to exist the all-time of the bunch, but after going through it I idea it was not up to par with the other 2. I tried it again and over again I was loving information technology so it just kind of gets weak near the finish thus why I consider this one a tease. It is still very good, do not become me wrong. I enjoyed it more than Terminal Fantasy XII which was released around the aforementioned time this 1 was and part XIII as well. Information technology simply saddens me that the game merely could non live upward to such a strong start, but that is a lot of part playing games. Legendia Two is like that as it starts out incredibly and and so information technology becomes weak as information technology becomes fetch the crystals from the dungeons. Here, the aforementioned problem every bit once you lot visit the verse realm for the 2nd fourth dimension and visit the village there information technology becomes go to this temple, now that i and finally it is over in a blink of an middle! I was stunned I won it over again and so quickly as I could have sworn there was more than to it. Of course, in this day and age of games that seem to not want to end I guess it is refreshing to play i that does.

The story has a immature man who wishes to exist a pilot coming beyond a young daughter fleeing strange men. He assists her and soon both he and his mother are trying to escort the young lady to the mainland. The young homo meets his hero, a airplane pilot who will design a couple of planes for Yuki (the airplane pilot wannabe) and his quest to escort the immature girl soon becomes a battle for the earth as her blood brother has plans to utilize the power of a god to create the perfect world!

The characters in this game are pretty adept equally far as the heroes are concerned. Information technology is nice seeing Yuki'south female parent back-trail him during the first portion of their journey. The captain they run into is a overnice character too, just wish they could accept stayed around a flake more. Soon Yuki teams with a boy named Ulf and a leader of a desert tribe. You practice not get to use Yuki'southward hero, but he is a good character also and plays a large function in the concluding battle. The problem is the villains equally one of them a blond dude just disappears at the cease unless I missed something, a strange beast that summons the undead seems pivotal and so is never really explained, the daughter is in love with the leader and is probably the merely one you know the reasons for being with the leader and then at that place is this 1 guy who seems to exist the one to turn Emerious (the girl's brother and primary antagonist) onto the whole scheme, only they never actually do much in explaining him at all! But Emerious is explained in whatsoever detail and at that place are probably a fair number of things they practice non really cover about him too.

So the game has the basic Grandia combat with some absurd air finishers, the game has a very potent story to start and the game is a lot more than fun than most part playing games these days thanks to the damnation of turn based role playing games. But seems they got rushed with this one as they did not practise the job with this one they did with the other two. I do non know if it is because Foursquare was behind the game this time as I know they rushed the people who made Xenogears which is why Fei and Elly exercise the whole second disc telling the story thing, just it is a shame as this game could take been a masterpiece. The world is not every bit large, yous practice non get that many characters and it kind of ends chop-chop. Nonetheless, for the time information technology lasts information technology is good and worth a play through, but be prepared if you like a very heavily story driven office playing game equally this 1 is going to tease you!

Excellent game in the Grandia series

Grandia III was released in Feb 2006. Created by Game Arts, published by Square Enix.

I admittedly loved Grandia Ii on the DC. So much and so that information technology's my favorite DC game ever. Over 5 years later (with a detour in Grandia Xtreme), Grandia III is an exclusive on the PS2.

Grandia III is about its outstanding battle engine. You choose to assail an enemy. Both y'all and the enemy take an IP guess. You attack the enemy when you are free to do and so. You tin can also attempt to cancel its attack by landing a critical hitting. In that location is also Magic and Special Moves that tin be used. The activity can get fast and furious with all hell breaking loose. There is that instant gratification of canceling a potentially dangerous enemy spell and then countering with critical that makes the enemy wing followed past your comrades comboing him.

The game is besides very tough. Even with some powerful characters you can easily exist killed off by the monsters. They put up a tough fight and strategy is necessary to survive.

The graphics are pretty decent; nothing mindblowing. The interim is pretty good and the characters are interesting. Alfina seems to be always be spazzed out or crying while Ulf is the little ball of detest towards his foes. Yuki reminded me a flake of Vyse from Skies Of Arcadia.

The story is decent merely it's probably been told before and the worlds you visit are typical: water ice mount, jungle, desert, etc. Also, the game is linear; yous're pretty much ready on 1 path and in that location is little in the manner of sidequests. At that place's a lot to collect, though and you will try and run across if you can get all the spells, skills and weapons/armor. The gambling game of arranged dice is also addictive.

The music is O.K. zip as skillful as Tales Of Legendia was. The theme song seems to be a rip-off of an Utada Hikaru philharmonic of J-Pop and Hillary Duff.

Still, this game owns because going into battle and leveling up is so much fun. In that location'due south no tedium involved. Too, in that location is plenty of customization for your warriors. Similar Gran Turismo, you can see if you lot can perfect your warriors.

All in all, an first-class game. It isn't in the same class equally Dragon Quest Eight merely it's in the side by side level. Hopefully, Grandia IV will be out sooner and I also hope to notice Grandia Xtreme. Perchance I'll even play the original Grandia on the PSOne if I tin can find it.

Enjoyable game with one of the nearly insipid female person characters ever...

Intruigingly, this is the only Grandia game not to be released in the United kingdom of great britain and northern ireland (Unless you count Grandia Xtreme). Fortunately, cheers to the wonders of ebay, I was able to purchase a re-create AND find a way to play it on my PAL PS2. The other two games in the serial were fantastic (particularly the showtime) so I had high hopes for this one. Is it upward to scratch? Well, the battle system is still as good equally ever, and there are plenty of items to detect that increment the longevity no end. It is spread over 2 discs so look a huge adventure, and the graphics are the all-time yet. But...

Who wrote the story?! It cribs from well-nigh every other RPG ever made and would most laissez passer every bit a parody of clichéd plot lines from the genre. Let's run across... wannabe pilot befriends mysterious pointy-eared girl and together they set out on an gamble that COULD DECIDE THE FATE OF THE PLANET Equally We KNOW IT (TM). I suppose the pilot's mother joining you at commencement in the quest is someone original, only she soon disappears.. eloping with a scummy crewman you run into, leaving y'all with, in addition, a dragon-riding demi human (CHECK) a magic user with a HUGE cleavage (Cheque) and a pinkish haired girl who doesn't say much (CHECK). Together, they are embroiled in a storyline involving GUARDIANS and TEMPLES equally they wing around the world RIGHTING WRONGS and by and large being humourless clean-cut GOOD GUYS. ZZZZZ.... come on, how nigh for once we go a main character who kills the townsfolk, burns the houses and releases the EVIL SPIRIT THAT DESTROYS THE PLANET. Okay, perchance I'k just kidding only honestly, the amount of formulaic story elements hither beggars conventionalities.

Anyway, I won't harp on most it for as well long, as the game has a far bigger problem. It has blonde hair, brown optics, a sappy voice and goes by the name of ALFINA. Apart from beingness chosen something that a trans-sexual might retrieve of being referred to as after his performance, this girlie is i of the most annoyingly drippy protagonists in an RPG E'er. This is a person who is e'er upset, never stops talking like a little child and spends all her time whining and crying. Fine, the history of RPGs is littered with people who have their ain personal traumas and demons to conquer, but this individual seems to be ENJOYING her depression and consequently, gets our hero to exercise EVERYTHING for her. I cannot emphasise plenty how much I HATED this snivelling, pathetic grapheme, and by implication her 'boyfriend' (i.e you) who never objects for one minute to her behaviour and put his foot down to her abiding stupid requests. Thankfully, I haven't played up to the point where they share their beginning kiss ( Inevitable, actually ) because one time they practice, I accept a feeling I volition demand a new television set set.

Equally I said, at face up value the game is more than enough fun. Possibly the faults that I found with it are my opinions solitary, simply I don't recollect so. All over the internet, this is generally accustomed equally the weakest of the trilogy, and I don't think it was any great loss information technology never turned up on ol' Brittanias shores. I would still recommend information technology to RPG fans, but don't expect anything to rival the previous ii installments. Could practice better, guys. seven/10
